New Delhi, June 1: Rescue and debris-clearance operations at the site of the building collapse in Delhi’s Saket area entered their final stage on Monday, with emergency response teams continuing to remain on alert as a precautionary measure, officials said.

According to a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official, personnel will stay deployed at the site until the entire area has been thoroughly cleared to ensure that no individual remains trapped beneath the rubble.

Authorities have intensified efforts to complete the operation while maintaining strict safety measures around the collapse site. The incident has raised concerns over construction safety and compliance with building regulations in the capital.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the owner of the collapsed building. The case has been filed under Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 290 (negligent conduct with respect to pulling down, repairing or constructing buildings), and 125(a) (acts endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Officials said the building owner is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend him. Further investigation is in progress to determine the circumstances that led to the collapse and to identify any lapses in construction practices or regulatory compliance.

Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed structural and forensic assessment as part of the ongoing probe.
