BENGALURU, Aug 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro and flag off the Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Belagavi during his four-hour visit to the city on Sunday.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, Modi will arrive at HAL Airport at 10:30 a.m., then proceed to KSR Bengaluru railway station to launch the Bengaluru–Belagavi Vande Bharat. He will also virtually inaugurate two more Vande Bharat trains: Amritsar–Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Ajni (Nagpur)–Pune.
The PM will later flag off the 19-km Yellow Line from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra—part of Metro Phase 2, costing ₹7,160 crore—before taking a ride to Electronic City. The line, with 16 stations, is expected to ease congestion on key stretches like Hosur Road and Silk Board Junction, expanding Bengaluru’s operational metro network to over 96 km.
At the International Institute of Information Technology, Modi will lay the foundation for Metro Phase 3 (Orange Line), a ₹15,611-crore, 44-km project with 31 elevated stations across two corridors: JP Nagar 4th Phase–Kempapura and Hosahalli–Kadabagere.
The visit will conclude with his departure for Delhi at 2:45 p.m.
