Anantnag, June 7: In a continued crackdown against narcotics trafficking, Anantnag Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substance from his possession in the Bijbehara area of south Kashmir.
According to police officials, a naka (checkpoint) was established at Tarbal Guree by a police team. During checking, a suspect identified as Zahid Ali Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar and resident of Guree, was intercepted and searched. The search led to the recovery of 113 grams of Charas from his possession.
The accused was immediately taken into custody, and the contraband substance was seized as per legal procedures.
Police have registered a case under FIR No. 152/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at the concerned police station. Further investigation has been initiated to trace the source and supply chain linked to the recovered narcotics.
Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society and urged the public to cooperate by sharing information about drug-related activities in their localities.
