April 28- China has called for a prompt and impartial investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack and reaffirmed its support for Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty and security interests.
According to the state-run Xinhua news agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed the situation over a phone call with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
Wang said Beijing is closely monitoring the developments and emphasized that combating terrorism is a collective responsibility of the international community. He reiterated China’s strong support for Pakistan’s counterterrorism initiatives.
Underscoring the need for regional stability, Wang stressed that conflict serves neither India’s nor Pakistan’s interests and urged both sides to exercise restraint and work towards de-escalating tensions.
Ishaq Dar, on his part, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fighting terrorism and handling the situation with responsibility. He also pledged to maintain close communication with China and the broader international community.
