Srinagar, Oct 10: Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to review the cases of detainees and ensure their release on humanitarian and democratic grounds.

Mirwaiz said that such a gesture would help end the prolonged ordeal faced by the detainees and their families. “I appeal to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to relook at the matter from a humanitarian and democratic perspective and release the detainees,” he said.

He added that such a step would go a long way in “winning the hearts of the people of Kashmir and earning their goodwill.”
