Poonch, Dec 28:
In a continued effort to strengthen police–public relations and address the issues of border residents on priority, DIG Rajouri–Poonch Range Tejinder Singh, IPS, along with SSP Poonch Shafqat Hussain, JKPS, conducted an extensive visit to areas across the fence in District Poonch on Sunday.
The senior officers were accompanied by DySP Headquarters Poonch, Shri Neeraj Sharma. During the visit, the police team toured several forward villages and border hamlets, reviewing the prevailing security situation and assessing civic and safety-related concerns of the local population.
The DIG and SSP interacted extensively with residents, patiently listening to their grievances and issues, particularly those related to security, movement restrictions, basic amenities, and emergency response. The officers assured the people that their genuine concerns would be taken up with the concerned authorities on priority and resolved in a time-bound manner.
Emphasising the importance of community cooperation, DIG Tejinder Singh highlighted the vital role of public support in maintaining peace and security in sensitive border areas. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with the police and security forces.
SSP Poonch Shafqat Hussain reiterated the commitment of Poonch Police to remain accessible to the public, especially border residents who face unique challenges due to their proximity to the Line of Control. He said such outreach visits would continue to ensure confidence-building and effective policing.
The visit was appreciated by the local residents, who expressed satisfaction over the police leadership’s proactive approach and direct engagement with people living in remote and sensitive areas.
