Srinagar: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued an advisory warning of moderate to heavy rain and snowfall across parts of Jammu and Kashmir from the night of January 26 till the evening of January 27.

According to the advisory, the weather system may also trigger thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds, particularly affecting higher reaches of the region. The Met Centre has cautioned that the prevailing conditions could disrupt normal life and increase the risk of avalanches in snow-bound areas.

In view of the forecast, farmers have been advised to suspend all agricultural operations till January 28 to avoid potential losses. The advisory further urges the general public, especially those residing in or travelling to higher altitude areas, to refrain from venturing into sloppy and avalanche-prone zones during the period.

Authorities have advised residents to remain alert and follow official weather updates, while travellers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
