Srinagar, June 2: Baramulla Member of Parliament Abdul Rashid Sheikh, popularly known as Engineer Rashid, returned to Delhi on Monday and surrendered before authorities after the expiry of his interim bail granted by the Delhi High Court following the death of his father.

The Delhi High Court had granted Rashid interim bail until June 2, 2026, on compassionate grounds to enable him to attend his father’s funeral, burial, and related religious and customary rites in Jammu and Kashmir.

Rashid, the Member of Parliament from Baramulla, had travelled to his native village after being released from Tihar Jail to participate in the last rites and mourning ceremonies of his father, Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, who passed away after a prolonged illness.
