KOLKATA, June 2: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will formally launch the state’s Annapurna Yojana on June 3, under which eligible women beneficiaries will receive financial assistance of ₹3,000 per month, according to an official order issued by the state secretariat.
The Annapurna Yojana, a key promise in the BJP’s election manifesto, will replace the previous Trinamool Congress (TMC) government’s Lakshmir Bhandar scheme. Under the earlier programme, beneficiaries received a maximum monthly assistance of ₹1,500.
“The Chief Minister will inaugurate the Annapurna Yojana on June 3,” the official order stated.
The new scheme is expected to significantly enhance financial support for women across the state by doubling the maximum amount provided under the previous initiative.
