Jammu, July 19: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday launched a monograph titled “Indus Water Treaty – Mirroring the Facts”, authored by senior journalist and commentator Sant Kumar Sharma, during a special event held in Jammu.
Taking to social media platform X, LG Sinha expressed his appreciation for the monograph, describing it as a “thoughtful and timely” publication that offers valuable insights into the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) between India and Pakistan.
“The monograph provides interesting perspectives on the treaty and the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji’s decisive move to terminate it,” Sinha wrote.
The Indus Water Treaty, signed in 1960, has long governed the sharing of river waters between the two neighbouring countries. Recent developments have sparked renewed debate over its relevance in the current geopolitical context, making the release of the monograph particularly significant.
The author, Sant Kumar Sharma, is known for his detailed work on Jammu and Kashmir affairs and India-Pakistan relations. The publication is expected to contribute to informed discourse on India’s water diplomacy and strategic interests.
