SRINAGAR: Former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday welcomed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s acknowledgment of an intelligence failure in the Pahalgam attack but said accountability must follow.“Better late than never,” Abdullah said, referring to Sinha’s admission after 80 days. “Such a major incident couldn’t have happened without a lapse. Now, someone must be held accountable—26 people were killed, and there’s been no progress.

”On the July 14 incident at Srinagar’s Naqshband Sahib graveyard, where police barred political leaders from paying tribute to the victims of the 1931 massacre, Abdullah called the move unnecessary. “Restrictions were meant for July 13, not the day after. We weren’t breaking any law,” he said.

He also thanked leaders from other states, including West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, for their support.
