Srinagar : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated the Buyer-Seller Meet at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), marking a significant step toward strengthening the local economy and empowering artisans in Jammu and Kashmir.

The event, organized to promote local products and foster direct market linkages, is hosting a total of 45 buyers — including 15 international and 30 national participants. The initiative is expected to open new avenues for local artisans and craftspeople by facilitating interactions with potential buyers from across the globe.

Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Abdullah emphasized the importance of such platforms in revitalizing traditional crafts and boosting the region’s economic prospects. “This meet provides a golden opportunity for our artisans to showcase their talent on an international stage and build sustainable trade relationships,” he said.

The Buyer-Seller Meet will feature exhibitions of handicrafts, handlooms, and other locally made products, offering buyers firsthand experience of Kashmir’s rich artistic heritage. The initiative is part of a broader push by the government to support local industries and enhance their visibility in both domestic and global markets.
