SRINAGAR, June 30: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said that all departments and security forces have made “robust arrangements” for the smooth conduct of the annual Amarnath Yatra, expressing confidence that this year’s pilgrimage will be even more successful and secure.
Speaking on the preparations ahead of the holy pilgrimage, LG Sinha stated, “All departments and security forces have made robust arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra. I am confident that this year’s Yatra will be even more successful, ensuring a safer and more enriching experience for pilgrims from across the country.”
The 52-day Yatra to the revered Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir’s Himalayas is scheduled to begin on July 1 and will conclude on August 22. Thousands of pilgrims from across India are expected to undertake the journey through the traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag and the shorter Baltal route in Ganderbal.
Security has been significantly heightened along both routes, with multiple layers of protection in place, including deployment of additional paramilitary forces, drone surveillance, and quick response teams. Besides security, the administration has bolstered logistical support, medical facilities, and sanitation measures to accommodate the influx of devotees.
LG Sinha’s assurance comes amid intensified coordination between civil administration, police, Army, and paramilitary forces, aiming to ensure a hassle-free Yatra. Special arrangements have also been made to provide real-time weather updates, improve communication infrastructure, and manage crowd flow efficiently.
The annual Amarnath Yatra holds immense religious significance and is one of the most challenging spiritual treks in India. Authorities expect record participation this year and are emphasizing both safety and spiritual enrichment for the pilgrims.
