Leh, Ladakh – June 15, 2025:
Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman addressed a gathering during the Credit Outreach Programme held in Leh, Ladakh, emphasizing the Centre’s commitment to inclusive economic growth and financial empowerment in the region.
Speaking at the event, the Finance Minister underscored the importance of extending financial services and credit facilities to remote and underserved areas like Ladakh. She highlighted the Government of India’s initiatives aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and supporting local businesses, especially among youth and women.
“The government is steadfast in ensuring that every citizen, irrespective of geography, has access to financial tools and opportunities essential for economic progress,” she said.
The outreach programme, organized by leading public sector banks and financial institutions, focused on facilitating credit linkages, promoting self-employment schemes, and creating awareness about various central financial schemes available to the residents of Ladakh.
Local entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and budding start-ups attended the programme and shared their experiences. Several beneficiaries were handed sanction letters for loans under various government-backed schemes.
The event marked another step in the government’s larger mission to integrate far-flung regions into the mainstream financial ecosystem and drive grassroots development through targeted interventions.
