Colombo, Sri Lanka: India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and the advanced frigate INS Udaygiri are representing the Indian Navy at the International Fleet Review (IFR) 2025, hosted by the Sri Lanka Navy in Colombo. The multinational maritime event forms a key part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s 75th anniversary celebrations, drawing participation from naval ships, high-level delegations, and observers from several countries.

The arrival of INS Vikrant and INS Udaygiri marks the maiden overseas deployment for both platforms—an important milestone for the Indian Navy as it highlights the growing operational readiness of its indigenously built fleet.

The deployment underscores India’s commitment to strengthening regional maritime cooperation, maritime security, and interoperability among friendly navies in the Indian Ocean Region. The presence of these frontline Indian warships at the IFR reflects New Delhi’s emphasis on fostering mutual trust and collaboration with neighbouring maritime nations.

The International Fleet Review 2025 is expected to feature naval demonstrations, professional interactions, and cultural exchanges, providing a platform for navies from across the world to showcase capabilities and enhance maritime diplomacy.
