New Delhi, Friday: India’s Ministry of Defence has signed Letters of Offer and Acceptance (LOAs) with the United States Government for a five-year sustainment support package for the Indian Navy’s MH-60R Seahawk helicopters. The agreement, valued at approximately ₹7,995 crore, was formalized in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

The deal, concluded through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) route, aims to strengthen the Navy’s operational readiness by establishing in-country repair, training, and maintenance infrastructure for the fleet. By localizing key support systems, the arrangement is expected to significantly enhance the helicopters’ availability and reduce downtime.

Officials said the agreement will not only bolster the Navy’s anti-submarine warfare and surveillance capabilities but also contribute to the broader vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by promoting indigenous support mechanisms for high-end military platforms.

The MH-60R helicopters, inducted as part of India’s effort to modernize its naval aviation assets, are a critical component in enhancing maritime security across the Indian Ocean Region.
