New Delhi — US Vice President JD Vance, currently on a four-day official visit to India, has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, which targeted Indian tourists, resulted in multiple fatalities and has sparked outrage both in India and internationally.

In a statement released on his visit, Vice President Vance expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated the United States’ firm stance against terrorism. “The United States stands in solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism and will continue to support efforts to maintain peace and security in the region,” Vance said.

The attack, attributed to militants opposed to Indian rule in the region, took place as part of a broader escalation of violence in Kashmir. While the exact number of casualties is still being verified, reports confirm that several lives were lost in the brutal assault.

During his visit, which focuses on strengthening bilateral ties between the US and India, Vance emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two nations in areas such as trade, defense, and counterterrorism. The Vice President’s condemnation of the attack came alongside discussions aimed at enhancing diplomatic and economic relations, underscoring the US’s commitment to supporting India in addressing regional security challenges.

The attack in Kashmir highlights the ongoing volatility in the region and serves as a reminder of the persistent threat posed by militant groups, which continue to challenge peace efforts. Both governments are expected to collaborate further on counterterrorism measures in the wake of the incident.

As Vice President Vance continues his tour, the US administration’s stance on strengthening international partnerships and combating terrorism remains a key focus of his discussions with Indian leaders.
