Srinagar, Kashmir – Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Srinagar today to oversee the security situation following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which has now claimed 25 lives. Shah is scheduled to visit Pahalgam, where the attack took place, to assess the ground situation and meet with local authorities. His visit underscores the central government’s commitment to addressing the security concerns and providing support to the victims of this tragic incident.

Among those killed in the attack are tourists from Karnataka and Odisha, who were in the region to enjoy the scenic beauty of Kashmir. Several others were injured in the assault, which has sent shockwaves through the nation.

The attack has sparked strong condemnation from political leaders across India. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the incident as “cowardly, unforgivable, and highly condemnable.” In a social media post, he offered his condolences, stating, “My condolences to those who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident! I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant salvation to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured.”

Pulwama MLA and PDP leader Waheed Para also condemned the attack, noting that such acts are typically carried out when peace seems achievable in the region. “We condemn this act of terror unequivocally and stand united against it, regardless of political ideologies,” Para added.

Shah’s visit to Srinagar and his upcoming trip to Pahalgam highlight the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of tourists and locals alike. The Home Minister is set to hold a high-level meeting with security officials to discuss the investigation and the implementation of additional safety measures.

Authorities are working to contact the families of the victims and provide necessary assistance. Investigations into the attack are ongoing, with security forces stepping up their presence in the region to prevent further violence.

This tragic attack has brought renewed focus on the ongoing security challenges in Kashmir, while also prompting a wave of solidarity from political leaders across the nation, determined to stand united against terrorism.
