Baramulla, Oct 26: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, on Sunday chaired a meeting with officials from key departments to review winter preparedness in Gulmarg and ensure a smooth, safe experience for tourists.
The meeting, attended by representatives from the Gulmarg Development Authority, Police, Power, R&B, PHE, and Health departments, focused on snow clearance, road maintenance, uninterrupted utilities, and sanitation.
Sherpa emphasized early planning to effectively tackle winter challenges and provide visitors with quality facilities. He lauded the progress made in recent years in improving infrastructure and services.
To ensure fair transport rates, the DC directed concerned officers to meet with the Transport Association to fix uniform fares for vehicles, which will be displayed on signboards and digital screens in Gulmarg and Tangmarg. He also informed that land is being identified in Tangmarg for a multi-level parking facility to ease congestion.
Sherpa urged all departments to finalize their winter plans promptly to maintain uninterrupted services and uphold Gulmarg’s status as a leading winter destination.
