Srinagar, Oct 26:
National Conference (NC) senior leader and MLA from Hazratbal, Salman Ali Sagar, on Sunday came out in defence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, following criticism of the government by two party MPs.
Earlier, NC parliamentarians Aga Ruhullah Mehdi and Mian Altaf Ahmad Larvi had publicly accused the government of “failing on both political and administrative fronts.” Their remarks stirred political debate within the party and drew attention to apparent discontent among some senior members.
Reacting to their statements, Sagar urged party leaders to exercise restraint and maintain unity. He said that the Omar Abdullah-led government had “taken several measures to strengthen governance and ensure public welfare,” adding that internal criticism should not overshadow the administration’s achievements.
“Every government faces challenges, but the NC remains committed to serving the people with sincerity. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has always prioritized transparency and accountability,” Sagar said.
He also emphasized that differences within a democratic setup were natural but should be addressed “within the party forum rather than in public.”
