The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) has commenced its Management Development Programmes (MDPs) across 15 districts in Jammu and Kashmir, with over 300 entrepreneurs taking part since its launch on April 15, 2025. This initiative is part of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme, designed to enhance the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector in the Union Territory.

The announcement was made during a district-level RAMP Awareness Workshop at Udyog Bhawan, Jammu, which is the third event in a series of outreach initiatives under the RAMP scheme, a flagship program of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India. The scheme is being executed under the guidance of the J&K Industries and Commerce Department, with JKTPO serving as the coordinating agency.

Sudarshan Kumar, Managing Director of JKTPO, highlighted the transformative potential of RAMP for MSMEs in the region. He expressed confidence that the program would foster growth and innovation, reshaping the business landscape in Jammu and Kashmir. The RAMP initiative includes a variety of measures, such as registering MSMEs under the Udyam system, providing packaging and branding support for GI-tagged products, promoting digital financing solutions, and the launch of an MSME Health Clinic and Monitoring & Evaluation Dashboard.

In addition, the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Kashmir, has rolled out awareness campaigns in districts like Pulwama, Anantnag, Kupwara, Kulgam, Budgam, Ganderbal, and Baramulla, aiming to bring unregistered businesses into the formal economy.

The workshop, chaired by Ashok Kumar, Joint Director (Development) of Industries and Commerce Jammu, was attended by a range of MSME entrepreneurs, industry representatives, and officials from various government departments, including Handloom & Handicrafts, NABARD, and Labour & Employment. The government reiterated its commitment to supporting the effective implementation of the RAMP program at the grassroots level.
