Sept 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), accusing them of insulting Bihar whenever the state makes progress.

Addressing a rally in Purnea, PM Modi said, “Rail engines made in Bihar are now being exported to Africa, but this doesn’t go down well with Congress and RJD leaders. Instead of appreciating Bihar’s achievements, they mock the state on social media. These people hate Bihar.”

His remarks came in the backdrop of the controversy triggered by the Congress’s Kerala unit, which recently posted on X that “Bidis and Bihar start with B. Cannot be considered sin anymore.” The comment, made in connection with the cut in GST on bidis, sparked widespread outrage. The party later deleted the post and issued an apology.

Taking a dig at the opposition, PM Modi contrasted their politics with his government’s policies. “For RJD and Congress, the only concern is their families. They will never worry about your families. But for Modi, every citizen is part of my family. That is why we follow the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’,” he said.

He further underlined that the recent GST reduction on essential items was intended as festival-season relief. “From toothpaste, soap, and shampoo to ghee and many food products, prices are coming down. This will ease the burden on households. A government that cares for the poor always works for their welfare,” he added.

PM Modi also targeted the opposition over their past governance in Bihar, alleging widespread mismanagement under their rule. He expressed confidence that women voters, particularly mothers and sisters, would give a “befitting reply” to Congress and RJD in the upcoming assembly elections.
