NEW DELHI: (Dec 19) In a relief to Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, the Delhi High Court on Friday set aside an order of the Lokpal granting sanction to the CBI to file a chargesheet against her in the alleged cash-for-query scam.

The high court said there was a “clear departure” from the procedure expressly mandated under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, and the Lokpal had erred in its understanding and interpretation of the provisions of the Act.

“The manner in which the proceedings were conducted is neither contemplated by the statute nor required for the proper discharge of the Lokpal’s functions.
