Srinagar, Dec 22 : Renowned Kashmiri broadcaster, writer and poet Abdul Ahad Farhad passed away suddenly in Jammu on Monday, sparking widespread grief across literary, journalistic and cultural circles in the Kashmir Valley.
Farhad was widely respected for his contributions to broadcasting and Kashmiri literature, and was regarded as a prominent voice in the Valley’s cultural discourse. His writings were noted for their depth and clarity, while his broadcasts and public engagements reflected a strong commitment to promoting literary values.
He was associated with several literary platforms and hosted programmes that encouraged literature and nurtured young writers, earning him admiration from colleagues and audiences alike.
His mortal remains are being brought from Jammu to Srinagar, where his last rites will be performed later on Monday at Soura.
Writers, journalists and cultural organisations expressed deep condolences, terming his demise a significant loss to Kashmir’s literary world.
