Srinagar, June 13 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has sharply criticized the international community for its silence over Israel’s recent military action against Iran. Drawing comparisons with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Abdullah expressed concern over what he described as double standards in global responses to acts of aggression.
Speaking to the media, Abdullah stated, “Today, Israel has done what Russia did in Ukraine. Yet, when Israel targets Iran, major world powers—be it the United States, Europe, or others—remain silent.”
He questioned the rationale behind the airstrike, remarking, “To the best of my knowledge, Iran had not provoked such an attack. This seems to be a pre-emptive strike. If the world’s leading powers choose to stay quiet on such matters, it is deeply concerning.”
The Chief Minister also commented on a tragic aviation incident in Ahmedabad involving a Dreamliner aircraft that reportedly plummeted from the sky within a minute. “One passenger lost their life, while fortunately, others survived. We are still awaiting confirmation on whether any students or medical professionals were on board. Notably, this is the first recorded accident involving the Dreamliner aircraft,” he said.
Extending his condolences, Abdullah added, “Our thoughts are with the families affected by this unfortunate incident. We urge a thorough investigation to ensure such tragedies are prevented in the future.”
