Budgam, J&K — Security forces arrested two terror associates during a checkpoint operation in Budgam, recovering a pistol, grenade, and 15 live rounds. A case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
The arrests follow the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 people—mostly Hindu tourists—were killed by three gunmen in Baisaran Valley. The attackers, armed with AK-47s and M4 carbines, reportedly asked victims about their religion before executing them. The Resistance Front (TRF), linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility.
In response, India has stepped up counter-terror operations and taken diplomatic actions against Pakistan, including downgrading ties, closing border routes, suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, and expelling Pakistani military officials.
