Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today expressed concern over the delay in restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as the region’s “biggest challenge.”
“Statehood is the biggest challenge for J&K. It is unfortunate that despite the Supreme Court’s assurance, statehood has not been restored. First came delimitation, then elections, yet statehood remains pending. What is even more unfortunate is that the BJP itself is opposing it,” Abdullah said.
He highlighted that while administrative and electoral processes have progressed, the fundamental issue of statehood remains unresolved, calling it a matter of serious concern for the people of the Union Territory.
