SUKMA, May 23: A Naxalite was killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, a senior police official said on Friday.
The gunfight took place on Thursday evening in a forested area under the jurisdiction of the Kistaram police station, during an anti-Naxal operation launched by a joint team of security personnel.
The operation involved personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), the Special Task Force (STF), and the 210th battalion of the CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), an elite unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the official said.
Further details, including the identity of the slain Naxalite and any potential recoveries from the site, are awaited as the search operation continues in the area.
