SRINAGAR: National Conference (NC) MP Mian Altaf Ahmad Larvi will not join the upcoming all-party delegation’s foreign visit as he attends the annual Urs of Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din Kiyani (RA) at the Baba Ji Sahib Larvi shrine in Wangat, Ganderbal.
Mian Altaf, who is the Sajjadah Nasheen (custodian) of the shrine, said his presence at the two-day religious event, set to begin in early June, is essential due to its spiritual and cultural significance.
“The Urs is a time of devotion and community gathering. My responsibilities here are vital, given the large number of devotees,” he stated.
The NC has backed his decision, with party sources confirming the delegation will proceed with other representatives.
Mian Mehar Ali, MLA from Kangan and Mian Altaf’s son, confirmed his father’s decision, citing the importance of the Baba Nagri Urs, which draws thousands from across Jammu and Kashmir.
