Srinagar: With the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway closed, hundreds of fruit-laden trucks from Kashmir remain stranded, leaving growers in distress as markets and cold storages run out of space.
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has urged the Union Railway Minister to arrange a special cargo train so that the Valley’s fruit reaches Delhi before it rots.”After the collapse of tourism, horticulture is the only lifeline of Kashmir. Farmers are facing huge losses, and without urgent support, this will be disastrous for Jammu & Kashmir,” she said.
