SRINAGAR: The Mughal Road, which connects Shopian district in the Kashmir Valley with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu, has been reopened for vehicular traffic after being closed due to fresh snowfall, officials said on Sunday.

The route had been temporarily shut following snowfall in higher reaches, particularly around Pir Ki Gali, making travel unsafe. Authorities have since cleared the snow and restored traffic movement.

However, the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway remains closed due to multiple landslides, mudslides, and incidents of shooting stones triggered by the recent wet weather. Traffic on the highway was suspended in both directions during the early hours of Sunday, and clearance operations are currently underway to make the road motorable again.
