SRINAGAR — Prominent Islamic scholar and preacher Maulana Mubarak Mubarki, president of Bazm-e-Tawheed and the Khateeb of Bazar Masjid, passed away on Friday. His demise marks the end of a life devoted to religious scholarship, unity, and community service.
Maulana Mubarki was widely admired for his wisdom, modesty, and steadfast dedication to Islamic principles. Through his heartfelt sermons and spiritual counsel, he impacted the lives of many across the Valley.
A family member said the funeral proceedings will take place in two parts—first at 2:30 PM at his residence in Sanat Nagar, followed by another at 4:00 PM at Bohri Kadal Chowk near Bazar Masjid.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is expected to lead the funeral prayers at Bazar Masjid. Expressing his grief, the Mirwaiz described the scholar’s passing as a personal loss.
“A few weeks ago, I visited him to check on his health. Even in his frailty, he recognised me and spoke with warmth and clarity,” Mirwaiz said. “His passing is a great loss for Kashmir.”
