SRINAGAR, Apr 17 — In a notable initiative aimed at enhancing employment avenues in north Kashmir, more than 1,000 job opportunities were extended to young aspirants during a Mega Job Fair held at the Chinar Yuva Centre in Baramulla, according to a statement from the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Jammu and Kashmir.
The event was a collaborative effort by the District Administration Baramulla, the Indian Army’s Dagger Division, and the District Employment and Counselling Centre. A total of 28 companies from various sectors—including hospitality, automotive, education, banking, and other services—participated in the fair.
The fair witnessed enthusiastic participation from youth across the district. Many candidates were interviewed on the spot, with some even receiving provisional appointment letters during the event.
Beyond job placements, the event also served as a platform to inform attendees about several government self-employment schemes such as MUMKIN, Tejaswini, PMEGP, Mission YUVA, and the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, called the fair a meaningful stride toward youth empowerment in the district. “This is not just about offering jobs—it’s about fostering ambition and building confidence among our young people,” he said.
While the exact number of candidates who received job offers was not immediately available, the fair was widely regarded as a positive step toward reducing unemployment and promoting entrepreneurship in the region.
