Muzaffarabad, Oct 1 — At least eight civilians were killed and more than 100 injured as fresh unrest erupted across Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday, with protests intensifying against the Pakistani establishment.

According to local reports, security forces opened fire on demonstrators in Dhirkot, Bagh district, leaving four civilians dead. Two more fatalities were reported in Dadyal, Mirpur, and Chamyati village near Kohala, while two others were killed in Muzaffarabad.

The region has been witnessing a civilian uprising for the past three days, marked by violent clashes, stone-pelting, and heavy shelling. The death toll from the protests has now risen to 10.

Thousands of residents from various towns have joined a Long March to Muzaffarabad, demanding basic rights and accusing Islamabad of systemic neglect. Protestors have voiced anger over inflation, lack of resources, and heavy taxation, with many directly challenging the Pakistani administration’s control over the region.

With tensions escalating, local sources warn that casualties are likely to rise further as clashes between protestors and security forces continue. The situation on the ground remains tense and volatile.
