Tallahassee, Florida – A tragic shooting incident unfolded at Florida State University on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to at least six others, authorities confirmed.

The alleged gunman, 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner, was taken into custody after being shot by responding officers. Ikner is reportedly the son of Jessica Ikner, a deputy with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, and is believed to have used her service weapon during the attack.

The shooting has left the university community in shock, with students and staff grappling with fear and uncertainty in the aftermath of the violence. Witnesses described scenes of panic as gunfire erupted on campus.

“I feel incredibly lucky to be alive,” one student said, still shaken by the events.

As investigations continue, university officials have assured that support services, including counseling and mental health resources, are being made available to those impacted by the incident. Authorities are also working to determine the motive behind the attack.
