Srinagar, Oct 8: In a sharp political attack ahead of the assembly session, Leader of Opposition and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma accused Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of “spreading lies and hatred against the BJP and the Centre,” asserting that “the doors of the BJP were closed for Omar Abdullah even then, even now.

”Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Sharma dismissed Omar Abdullah’s claim of having an “option” to align with the BJP in 2024, calling it a “fabricated narrative meant to mislead the people of Kashmir.”“My brother, what dream made you believe BJP offered you an alliance? If any BJP leader did, name them publicly—or apologize for lying,” Sharma said.

He accused the Abdullah and Mufti families of “decades of political manipulation,” saying they maintained ties with Delhi while spreading anti-Centre sentiment in Kashmir. Calling Omar’s remarks “political shamelessness,” Sharma added, “Even when BJP ruled at the Centre, no such offer was made. The BJP doesn’t need you to form a government.”Sharma credited the Modi government for transforming J&K since 2019, claiming the region is now peaceful and free of local militant recruitment. “For the first time in 35 years, not a single local youth has joined terrorism. The youth of Kashmir have accepted democracy,” he said.
