Jammu, Aug 19 — The Special NIA Court in Jammu has formally framed charges against Mian Abdul Qayoom, former president of the Kashmir High Court Bar Association, in connection with the murder of prominent lawyer and human rights activist Advocate Babar Qadri.
A senior official of the Special Investigation Agency (SIA) confirmed the development on Monday, describing it as a “significant step” in the high-profile case.
“The Special Designated Court under the NIA Act has framed charges under Sections 16, 18, and 38 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, against Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom,” the official said. The SIA had earlier filed a detailed chargesheet in the matter, linking Qayoom to the conspiracy behind Qadri’s killing.
