Pattan, Oct 22:
Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday expressed strong displeasure over reports that several doctors, particularly senior ones, often leave government hospitals under the charge of junior staff to attend their private clinics during duty hours.
During a surprise visit to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pattan, the minister found several irregularities, including the absence of senior doctors who were supposed to be on duty. Taking serious note of the issue, she directed the hospital administration to immediately review and overhaul the existing duty rosters to ensure accountability and uninterrupted healthcare services.
“Every hospital administration must ensure that doctors, including senior doctors, are present at all hours,” Itoo said while interacting with staff at the hospital. “Leaving hospitals to junior doctors and paramedics while attending to private clinics is unacceptable and amounts to dereliction of duty.”
