SRINAGAR: A case has been registered against Mehraj Malik, Aam Aadmi Party’s Jammu and Kashmir president and MLA from Doda, for allegedly removing medical equipment and drugs from a government-run Health and Wellness Centre at Kencha village, Doda. The incident, live-streamed on social media, has sparked controversy.
According to health authorities, the centre had been functioning in a rented two-room building for over five years, one of which became unsafe after structural damage. Following inspections, officials approved relocating the facility to a new building owned by Abdul Rashid. Malik opposed the move, alleging corruption, and pushed for another site that was found unsuitable.
Authorities alleged that Malik, along with supporters, forcibly shifted equipment and medicines, disrupting emergency care and drug distribution. An FIR has been lodged at Gandoh Police Station under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
