Srinagar, Sept 5: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review the post-flood scenario in the region and issued a series of directions to strengthen relief and response measures.
The Chief Minister directed the administration to reinforce vulnerable spots, ensure evacuation of people from inundated villages, and maintain round-the-clock monitoring through control rooms.
He also asked officials to undertake frequent visits to affected areas and issue timely advisories urging residents to stay alert, avoid panic, and cooperate with the administration.
Stressing the importance of restoring normalcy at the earliest, Abdullah instructed concerned departments to prioritize the swift restoration of essential services including power supply, drinking water, and road connectivity.
