Awantipora, Nov 10: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday inaugurated several key facilities at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, as the institution celebrated its 20th Foundation Day.

Marking the occasion, the Chief Minister dedicated the newly constructed Veshaw Girls’ Hostel to students. The hostel is designed to accommodate over 300 female students, offering safe, modern, and well-equipped residential facilities on campus.

In a major step toward strengthening academic outreach, Abdullah also launched IUST Community Radio 91.2 FM, a platform aimed at connecting the university with surrounding communities through educational and awareness-based programming.

The Chief Minister further inaugurated a Tech Expo, which featured innovative research projects and start-up ventures developed by IUST’s students and faculty.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdullah lauded the university’s efforts in promoting innovation and community engagement. He said the new initiatives reflect IUST’s growing commitment to student welfare, research, and social responsibility.

The Foundation Day celebrations brought together students, faculty, and dignitaries who commended the university’s progress since its establishment two decades ago.
