Raipur, Chhattisgarh:
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated the three-day 60th Directors General and Inspectors General of Police (DGsP/IGsP) Conference in Raipur. Senior police officials from across the country are participating in the annual event, which serves as a key platform for assessing internal security challenges and shaping policing strategies.
Speaking at the inauguration, Shah said the conference has evolved significantly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, becoming an effective forum for comprehensive policy formulation, strategy development, and problem-solving related to national security.
“The DGsP/IGsP Conference has emerged as a platform that provides solutions for the country’s internal security—covering everything from problem-solving and challenges to strategies and policy formulation,” he said.
Highlighting the government’s achievements in combating left-wing extremism, the Home Minister said that over the past seven years, the security framework in Naxal-affected regions has been strengthened considerably. “We have constructed 586 fortified police stations, and as a result, the number of Naxal-affected districts has reduced from 126 in 2014 to just 11,” Shah noted.
The three-day conference will include discussions on emerging security threats, policing reforms, cybercrime, counterterrorism, and the use of technology in law enforcement.
