Jammu, July 20: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Karra was arrested by police on Sunday while leading a peaceful “Jammu Chalo” march in Jammu, the party said.

The protest rally was organized under the banner of ‘Humari Riyasat, Hamara Haq’ (Our State, Our Right), demanding the restoration of statehood and constitutional rights to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Congress spokespersons, Karra, along with several party workers, was detained as they attempted to proceed with the march despite heavy police deployment. The party condemned the action, terming it an attack on democratic rights and the freedom of peaceful assembly.
