National Conference Chief Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, on Sunday, underscored the importance of internal reconciliation in Jammu and Kashmir as a prerequisite to any meaningful peace dialogue between India and Pakistan. He was speaking at a conference on peace and dialogue held at the India International Centre, New Delhi, organized by the Centre for Peace and Progress.
Addressing a diverse gathering of diplomats, scholars, and civil society members, Sadiq reaffirmed his party’s steadfast commitment to peace, dignity, and the constitutional rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Sincere and structured dialogue remains the only path to lasting peace,” Sadiq said, adding that any external outreach must be preceded by efforts to heal internal divisions and address the aspirations of the people in the region.
He emphasized that the responsibility for fostering a conducive environment for dialogue and stability rests not only with India but equally with Pakistan. “The onus does not lie on India alone. Pakistan must end its support for violence and terrorism and demonstrate a genuine commitment to peaceful engagement,” he asserted.
Highlighting the value of dialogue in democratic societies, Sadiq remarked, “Dialogue is not a sign of weakness—it is a reflection of democratic strength and political maturity.”
The conference served as a platform for advocates of peace to explore constructive approaches to resolving long-standing issues through diplomacy and mutual respect.
