SRINAGAR, June 18 — As tensions escalate between Iran and Israel, around 90 Kashmiri students have safely arrived in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, and are set to fly to New Delhi on Wednesday.
Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA), confirmed that the students crossed the Iran-Armenia border without incident on Tuesday evening.
“In addition to the 90 students from Kashmir, nearly 20 more from other parts of India also made it to Yerevan. All of them are students of Urmia Medical University,” Khuehami said.
He noted that the students were received upon arrival and accommodated in designated hotels. “They are expected to depart for New Delhi today, with necessary arrangements being handled in coordination with Indian authorities,” he added.
The evacuation comes amid growing concerns for the safety of Indian nationals in Iran as regional tensions intensify.
