Jammu, April 20: Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, expressed his anger towards Delhi Airport authorities after his flight from Jammu was rerouted to Jaipur late on Saturday night due to severe weather conditions.
In a late-night post on social media platform X, Abdullah shared a selfie from Jaipur Airport at 1 AM and vented his frustration. “Delhi airport is an absolute disaster (pardon my language, but I’m not in the mood for courtesy). We spent three hours in the air after departing from Jammu, only to be diverted to Jaipur. Now, I’m sitting on the plane’s steps at 1 AM trying to get some fresh air, with no idea when we’ll be leaving,” he wrote.
This incident occurred as air travel in Jammu and Kashmir faced major disruptions due to poor weather. On Saturday, six flights were cancelled at Srinagar Airport as rain and hailstorms caused significant delays, while the situation at Jammu Airport was similarly chaotic, with numerous cancellations and delays affecting hundreds of passengers.
In response to complaints from stranded passengers, IndiGo Airlines stated on X that its team was “closely monitoring the situation” and that operations would return to normal as soon as the weather improved.
The Valley experienced moderate to heavy rainfall and hailstorms in the past 24 hours, which led to widespread flight cancellations and delays.
