SRINAGAR, April 29 – Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to assess the summer preparedness of key departments across the Jammu division. The review focused on ensuring uninterrupted essential services and reducing response time to seasonal challenges such as heatwaves, water scarcity, and power outages.
The Chief Minister emphasised the need for proactive service delivery and inter-departmental coordination. “Response time to any kind of exigency should be minimised,” he said, stressing that departments must function seamlessly and maintain a state of readiness.
Officials from Jal Shakti, Health and Medical Education, PDD, PWD (R&B), Fire and Emergency Services, Forest Department, JPDCL, JMC, and other agencies were present. Omar Abdullah directed them to remain alert, strengthen monitoring mechanisms, and swiftly address public emergencies.
Deputy Commissioners were instructed to ensure district-level readiness and the continuous functionality of essential services. The Chief Minister also underlined the importance of robust and accessible public grievance redressal systems.
