New Delhi, May 25 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a meeting with NDA leaders in the capital on Sunday, advised party members to exercise caution in their public statements and avoid making loose or controversial remarks. The meeting, focused on good governance, was attended by Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states.

According to sources, the Prime Minister voiced concern over recent comments made by some BJP leaders, which have drawn criticism and caused embarrassment to the party. “Avoid speaking anything, anywhere,” Modi reportedly said, underscoring the importance of disciplined communication.

The cautionary message comes in the aftermath of contentious statements from BJP leaders in Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, particularly relating to Operation Sindoor. Modi clarified that the ceasefire under the operation was initiated at Pakistan’s request and involved no third-party mediation.

One of the most controversial remarks came from BJP MLA Vijay Shah of Madhya Pradesh, who allegedly made derogatory comments about Colonel Sofia Qureshi, an officer involved in the Operation Sindoor briefing. Shah insinuated that the Prime Minister had deliberately chosen someone “from the same community” as Pakistanis to retaliate for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir — a statement that sparked widespread outrage.
