Jammu, May 25: Minister Javed Rana on Saturday visited the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu to enquire about the health of civilians injured in the recent cross-border shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.
Among the injured is the father of 13-year-old twin siblings, Zain and Zoya, who were tragically killed in the shelling. The incident has sent shockwaves across the region, drawing widespread condemnation and expressions of grief.
Visibly moved by the family’s suffering, Rana spent time with the victims and their relatives, offering condolences and sharing in their pain. He assured the bereaved family of full support from the administration.
“I am deeply saddened by this heart-wrenching tragedy. The loss of innocent lives, especially children, is unbearable. The government stands firmly with the victims’ families in this hour of grief,” Rana said while speaking to reporters.
He directed the GMC administration to provide the best possible medical care to all those injured in the shelling and to ensure that no effort is spared in their treatment and recovery.
The shelling incident, which occurred earlier this week, has reignited concerns over civilian safety in border areas. Security forces have since been put on high alert, and efforts are underway to relocate vulnerable families to safer zones.
