New Delhi, April 25 — IndiGo Airlines has issued a travel advisory following Pakistan’s sudden decision to close its airspace to Indian flights. The airline announced that several international flights have been affected and assured passengers of flexible rescheduling and full refunds where applicable.

“Due to airspace closure by Pakistan, a few of our international flights continue to be impacted. Our teams are working diligently to assess the situation and assist impacted customers with the best possible alternatives,” IndiGo said in a statement.

The airline acknowledged the inconvenience caused and urged affected travelers to visit its website for rebooking or refund options. “This sudden announcement is beyond our control and we sincerely regret the disruption it may have caused to your travel plans,” the advisory added.

The airspace shutdown follows India’s firm response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, including one Nepali citizen. As part of its retaliatory measures, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 and shut down the integrated Attari Check Post.

Additional diplomatic and strategic steps taken by India include:

  • Termination of the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) and a 48-hour deadline for Pakistani officials to leave the country.
  • Declaration of Pakistan’s Defence, Naval, and Air Advisors in the Indian High Commission as persona non grata, requiring their departure within a week.
  • Reciprocal withdrawal of Indian Service Advisors and support staff from its High Commission in Islamabad.
  • Reduction in the strength of both High Commissions to 30 members each, effective May 1, 2025.

These escalating tensions mark a sharp deterioration in India-Pakistan relations, impacting diplomacy, travel, and regional stability.
